Issac Wister Turner was an American musician, songwriter and record producer who was born on November 5, 1931 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.  His music repertoire included blues, soul, rock and funk and he had a career that lasted over half century. His first recording "Rocket 88", credited to Jackie Brenston is considered by many as the first Rock 'n' Roll song.  He is probably most popularly known with his 1960s work with Tina Turner (who was his wife at the time).

Turner died on December 12, 2007 of a cocaine overdose.
