Jimmy forest is an African American Jazz Musician who was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 24, 1920.  He is most famous for his first solo recording of "Night Train" which was attained the #1 position on the R&B Billboard chart on March, 1952.  Forest also recorded frequently as both a sideman and a bandleader.

Jimmy forest died in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on August 1980, at the age of 60.
